There was a time where none of the chapters, in Releasing Omega, were numbered and where none of them were connected in any obvious way to the rest. They were also given two names; a real one, and a fake one. This was done, partially, to deter any potential theft. Since, if they couldn't tell which order they were supposed to go in; it would make it hard for anyone to put them together and claim them as their own. I also thought that the whole disjointedness of it would lend more weight to the possibility that Pathos might truly be insane. Though, in hindsight; I think it says more about how clever and paranoid I can be.
Needless to say; I've since scrapped that approach and made them connect in a more obvious and direct way, for the sake of readability. They also all (mostly) have only one name, and I believe there is only one exception to that now. And this is just one example of how much the series has changed over the years.
One nice thing, about it all though, is that it allowed me some freedom in just where I would place the chapters in the story. So, for example; if I decided that it would be best to have a certain chapter occur earlier than I had originally planned; I could make that happen, without too much fuss. Now this sometimes forced me to make adjustments to the stuff that came before and after, but it was nice to have that kind of freedom and flexibility. That was probably the only real positive about the whole experience, other than the fact that I learned from it.
